RIDER PHYSIOTHERAPY

The team at Perform Chartered Physio specialise in the assessment and treatment of horse riders.

Being avid horse enthusiasts themselves they are best placed to assist you with any aches and pains, asymmetry or performance related issues.

We offer 2 types of rider symmetry assessment; mounted and dismounted.

Dismounted Rider Assessment

This takes place at the Clinic at Kingseat Business Park, Newmacher. During your assessment we will look at your symmetry using specific movement and strength tests this will allow us to identify problems that will be influencing your position and performance in the saddle.

We have a saddle you can sit in to help with assessment or bring your own.

Once the issues have been identified hands on treatment will be utilised to improve your symmetry and effectiveness as a rider. An example of treatments include; muscle activation, k-tape, soft tissue release, postural correction amongst many others.

You will be provided with a management plan to give long term improvement. Follow-up to allow reassessment and progression is advised this can be discussed with your physiotherapist to build a unique plan for you.

Mounted Rider Assessment

We also offer mounted sessions on your own horse.  We run these sessions as clinics with a minimum of 4 riders required.  Please get in touch to find out about up-coming dates or to book your own clinic at your yard.

The format of these sessions start with you riding your horse to allow us to assess symmetry and movement. A normal session involves walk, trot and canter plus a look at any specific movements that cause issues e.g. half pass or tight jump off turns.

We then assess you on our mobile treatment plinth looking at strength and symmetry off the horse. Once the issues have been identified hands on treatment will be utilised to improve your symmetry and effectiveness as a rider. You will be given an ongoing exercise plan to give long term benefits.

Dismounted, follow-up in the clinic is recommended to allow reassessment and progression is advised this can be discussed with your physiotherapist to build a unique plan for you.
